I know it has been quite awhile since I posted my last podcast. My apologies to those that look for it weekly. For this week's podcast I look at reading comprehension. Some children have difficulty remembering and understanding what they read. Reading comprehension is extremely important, and as a child gets older, if their comprehension skills do not develop well, it will reflect in how he or she gains knowledge. If your child is having difficulty with reading comprehension, listen to this week’s podcast for some strategies that you can do at home to work with them to help improve their reading comprehension skills.
In this week’s podcast we explore a subject that I’m sure you are familiar with. Those of you with young children or those who teach in the early primary years, are probably familiar with the term ‘Sight Words.’ For this week’s podcast I’m going to explain exactly what is meant when we say ‘sight words’, why learning sight words are essential and give some tips to help parents reinforce basic sight words at home with their early readers as well as some classroom tips for teachers.
