For this week’s episode we looked at body image in adolescent girls. It is not uncommon for teenage girls to see pictures in magazines or images on television of models and aspire to be like them. They may like the way their hair curls, or how straight it is. They may admire their clear and seemingly flawless skin, and hope that the new products they have just bought will help to recreate this image. Often when teenage girls look at the media images produced of what a "normal'' girl should look like, they compare themselves and find faults in their appearances. Although many girls do this naturally, it can have a detrimental effect on their self esteem, and more specifically, their body image.
